Like Stilgherrian, I’ve been invited by the organisers of X|Media|Lab Sydney to attend their event tomorrow and talk about their event online. I appreciate the gesture. And attend I will. And write I will. But like Stil, I attend very many of these sorts of events, and am of the mind that liveblogging them, or [...]
As a TEDster, the emergence of the TEDx events gives us the opportunity to share the TED experience with our friends, colleagues and interest groups in a smaller, more intimate, less big bang (and definitely less expensive) setting. At acidlabs we’re incredibly proud to announce that TED has granted us the right to host the [...]

Image via Wikipedia This post started as a comment on my pal, Linda Johannessen’s blog post about TED and conference organisers. Then it got long, so I figured I’d bring it over here. Not least because I want to discuss conference models this weekend at BarCamp Canberra 2010. I’ll start with a story. Attending something [...]
As a part of an event I have coming up, the organisers asked me to do a litte future speculation on the direction the cultural and technological aspects of social networking are taking. Things got better for me in this session. The kickoff speaker, Nina Jablonski had what I think was the best stage presence so far. Others will disagree, but I really liked her – I’d totally study Anthropology if she was one of my professors. Nina Jablonski this month is the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin‘s [...]

Today started oddly for me. Tired after too few hours sleep (I was on Canberra time last night), the first session, while certainly interesting didn’t feel like it resoonated with me quite so much as the previous day. I am neither artist, scientist nor musician and the morning was dominated by these disciplines. Don’t get [...]

I met one of my musical favorites today at TED@PalmSprings – Jill Sobule. And, while I look like a complete goober in the photo, I’m very happy with it. Maybe I can get one in daylight tomorrow so I can avoid the inevitable blinking that comes with a flash going off.
