10.14.08Oops… Another big brand slips up on social mediaEDIT: My colleague and social network expert, Laurel Papworth, has published her own response. My friend, Cheryl Gledhill, from molt:n has alerted me to another big business - National Australia Bank and their new UBank brand - who apparently hasn't talked to a social media/social networking/communications specialist. Or at least one of the ones who will give them good advice. That's twice this year that NAB have crapped in their own nest on social media issues - we remember the AFL blogs thing, right? From the story: Graham Steele travelled from Australia to the Web 2.0 Expo in New York to find out about changing trends on the net. His motivation was getting help to update the site he runs, itineraryshare.com, so it matches the new generation of websites in terms of design, applications and interactivity. Why would you need to go all the way to New York to find out this information? Sure, Web 2.0 Expo is a pretty slick conference to attend and all the cool kids go, but really... I can think of ...

09.24.08Now We Are Talking reflects on itselfAs much as I am not a particular fan of Telstra's nowwearetalking.com.au - it's far too nasty at times and not as genuinely open as I would like - I have to applaud Mike Hickinbotham and his new blog, The Scrum, for openly asking the question of whether Telstra have it right, or are getting there. I haven't commented there as they make me sign up first - a huge barrier to open and participatory social media and something that needs to be changed. Personally, I think Telstra have a long way to go on engaging in honest, personal, open conversation ...

08.08.08Speaking calendar and past eventsPresentations from all of my public engagements (and some client ones) are available for viewing and download at my page at Slideshare. Many of them are extremely popular, having been viewed several thousand times. Some of them include synced audio or video. I now record all of my public events so that I can make audio available for all presentations. Where possible, I record video also.
