This will be relevant for my NZ-based readers mostly, but is interesting nonetheless.

Network PR, based in Auckland, Wellington and Sydney, have invited me over to run a workshop for their clients and an evening open chat about the value of social networking and social media, particularly for the PR world. We’ll be running a short, 90-minute workshop on 23 April at Network’s offices in Auckland and then a second event in the evening where I’ll be partnered in a chat by Julie Starr, NZ-based online journo. I’ve been chatting to Julie on Twitter for a while now. My take on her is that she’s pretty much the NZ equivalent of our own Bronwen Clune.

The blurb Network PR have put together is pretty nice:

Every day, billions of people around the world use online tools to converse, collaborate and share information. What does it all mean and where is it heading?

No matter what your level of knowledge or involvement with social media, we are holding an exclusive client workshop to enable you to share and learn about how the online environment can benefit you, your brand or your business.

The world of PR is offering us a host of opportunities to build networks of influence through social media.

Social media allows us to engage with our organisation’s target audiences in real time and in a dynamic and cost-effective manner. It’s also a new channel for potential threats to reputation.

For some, social media may seem a daunting place that is best left alone, while others have jumped in head first.

So, if you’re in NZ and around Auckland from 22-24 April, I’d love to say g’day. Comment, email, tweet or whatever and we can tee something up.
