07.04.08Heading to the Future of Media SummitI'm heading up to Sydney on 14 July to attend the next day's all day Future of Media Summit at Luna Park. Run by Ross Dawson's Future Exploration Network, the summit will explore issues around the ongoing change in the media landscape. It should be a great event, running parallel with a matched event in the US and with a wide range of really interesting old and new media types. The site claims it will be very participatory, so I figure it'll have strong thematic and interactive links to PubCamp, but I'm guessing that the harsh (but entirely fair) treatment of the ivory ...

06.22.08Feedly makes it *so much better*Like a lot of people I know, I'm usually buried under an avalanche of work, stuff I want to read and absorb and incoming messages that fight for my continuous partial attention. My pal, Stowe Boyd, and I have both recently become aware of Feedly, a new Firefox extension that radically messes with Google Reader (which for me usually has hundreds, if not thousands of unread items in it). Through some magical juice, Feedly grabs the stuff in your subscriptions, as well as a bunch of other attention stream data, and re-presents it in a much more interesting and consumable way. 06.10.08Enterprise 2.0 Conference - From the Bottom-Up: Building the 21st Century Intelligence CommunitySean Dennehy and Don Burke, both CIA intelligence analysts, openly discussed the work they are doing (without giving away the detail, obviously) on Intellipedia. Sean was a great, enthusiastic presenter, who was definitely a great choice for the conference - a great walking ad for the intel community. Built as a multilayered collaborative platform, Intellipedia consists of several tools and layers, from Unclassified that can be accessed via dial-in (and presumably VPN) through to the Top Secret JWICS.
