Ambition

We live for cre­ativ­ity, but under­stand deeply that cre­at­ing alone is dif­fi­cult and often dis­heart­en­ing work. Cre­ation hap­pens best when many minds come together, bring­ing knowl­edge, inspi­ra­tion and ideas to catal­yse some­thing new. The best cre­ations of all come from many dis­ci­plines, stitch­ing together the “head” and the “heart” in a blend of art, design, science, philosophy, cul­ture, music, soci­ol­ogy, tech­nol­ogy and much more.

This puz­zle falls into place to form new ideas and cre­ations that are bet­ter, faster, stronger and more affect­ing of soci­ety at large than their con­stituent parts.

This is acid­labs. We have a small ambi­tion, start­ing with our home city, Can­berra, to make the world a bet­ter place by think­ing big, tack­ling impos­si­ble, intractable prob­lems and com­ing up with new ideas for solv­ing them.

We’re going to do that by talk­ing about our ideas on our blog and bring­ing inter­est­ing events to Can­berra that enrich the cul­tural and intel­lec­tual land­scape. And we’re going to do it with­out any inten­tion of mak­ing money, through the force of the vol­un­teers that make up our team.

We want every­thing we do to be thought of as insanely great, but we’ll take the brick­bats with the bouquets.
