I’m sure many of you will have seen the video above (from the smart folks at Socialnomics). I like it a lot.

But you know what? We’re too focused on the revolution and not on the revolutionaries.

The hype is a fad. Especially the marketing hype. We’re (well, a lot of us, anyway) all still excited about the technological whiz-bangery and the opportunity to make money.

Me? I’m with Clay Shirky on this — the technology gets interesting when it gets boring. At that point, we can start focussing on what we’re doing and with who. What we can create. Who we can make something great with. How we can actually change the world for the better.

At the moment, it seems most of the buzz is about what we’re doing, with what and how it’s going to make us all so much money. Wrong focus.
