Entrepreneur, Jed White, and his company itechne are putting together two PubCamp events; one each in Sydney and Melbourne. I had been hoping to be able to attend at least the Sydney event. But now, I’m able to attend both as I’ve been asked to present at them on the subject of participatory culture and media. Pretty much right up my alley.

My talk, Slouching Toward Intertwingularity will examine:

…the power of participatory culture, particularly in its online sense, has returned power to the hands of the individual. We now have the ability to access or distribute almost any information at any time, to interact with our circle of friends regardless of location and exert significant influence on public and business institutions through the power of our connectedness.

In the words of the PubCamp site, PubCamp is for you if you want to:

  • Understand the most important trends and technologies for Web 2.0 and beyond — social and citizen media, the semantic web, widgets, the shift to online software, cloud computing, web devices, mobile and more.
  • Develop strategies for capitalizing on new digital media technologies and staying on top of their evolution.
  • Use Web 2.0 technologies inside your organization to improve how you operate.
  • Find out how other people are dealing with the challenges and learn from their mistakes and successes.
  • Take back practical tips and techniques you can use right now to help your business and career today.

Attendance is free, so assuming you have the time available and you’re either in Sydney on 18 June or Melbourne on 23 June, there’s no reason you shouldn’t come along and get a headful.

You can sign up for either event (Sydney, Melbourne) at Upcoming. But there’s limited space, so make sure you’re quick!
