The Art of Customer Engagement – 19 June 2008
My talk, entitled Turn on, tune in, drop out will discuss:
…the business context of participatory culture, addressing the need for organisations to reimagine themselves as their business is done more and more online. In this new world, people are engaged intellectually and given autonomy, information and knowledge is shared openly, collaboration is encouraged rather than hindered and productivity and morale can see significant improvements.
This vision is not a pipe dream, and is being realised in more and more businesses every day as they change to a more natural operating model that decries Taylorist practices in favor of lighter management and lighter, more flexible work styles.
This event hosted by Indigo Pacific will showcase Adobe’s Engagement Platform.
National Museum of Australia Talkback Classroom on Youth and the Media – 25 June 2008
I will be a panelist for the final NMA Talkback Classroom, Youth and the Media, a forum where senior high school students are able to engage with subject matter experts, community leaders and politicians on issues of importance to them. My co-panelists will be Walkley Award-winning journalist and radio presenter, Steve Cannane of jtv and ABC Radio National and Jenny Buckland, CEO of the Australian Children’s Television Foundation.
6th Annual Enterprise Architecture Conference, 1-5 September 2008
My topic Enterprise 2.0 – enabling change or part of the problem? will cover a range of issues:
There is a groundswell that business can no longer afford to ignore. That groundswell is Enterprise 2.0. These new tools and reimaginings of old tools are part of a paradigm shift that could make or break your organisation. But it’s not just about wikis, blogs and mashups. There are significant cultural issues that Enterprise 2.0 implementations need to address well before the first tool goes live. This session will provide an in-depth look at Enterprise 2.0, including:
- What it is… and isn’t
- Success stories
- Opportunities in your business for conversation, collaboration andcommunity around knowledge
- Improved customer service and customer relations
- How careful adoption of Enterprise 2.0 and other socially-based tools can enhance work style, mitigate generational differences and boost attraction, engagement and retention
I will be speaking on the afternoon of the first day of the conference proper, 3 September.
There are a couple of possibles also in the pipeline. More on those if they bear fruit.
