I’d love to sit in on this guy’s lectures!
I’ve posted previously about Professor Andrew McAfee from the Harvard Business School (here and here), and his always interesting and insightful commentary on the penetration of social software technology into the business world. He coined the term “enterprise 2.0”.
His latest post provides additional insight into the possibilities that the coming year brings and also looks at the happenings of last year. Of most interest to me are:
- the opportunity to go back and look at the case studies for companies like Avenue A|Razorfish and Dresdner Kleinwort who have managed to introduce these technologies successfully and leverage significant knowledge sharing and productivity gains from them
- a decent and rich definition of Enterprise 2.0 (which makes the deletionists at Wikipedia look stupid - more discussion in Andrew’s post), and
- forward-looking predictions for enterprise 2.0 in 2007. I see the second of Andrew’s scenarios being the most likely, but probably not until 3rd-quarter 2007 when the meme gets adequate penetration among non-tech management.
If Andrew isn’t alread in your feeds list, go to his blog and subscribe. It’s always worthwhile reading.
