Continuing today’s theme of Web 2.0 identifying features, Chris Anderson at The Long Tail has an excellent post up discussing the notion of transparency as a factor in corporate blogging. It makes excellent reading, and Chris is a smart guy. I’m actually reading The Long Tail: Why the Future of Business Is Selling Less of More at the moment (my wife, Alli, bought it for me).
For me, the notion of laying bare the entire process of how you work, think and do business is fascinating, and one I intend to practice wholeheartedly. As acidlabs begins development on thoughtglue, we fully intend to engage with our potential user base as we can - initially through the blog we’ll have up soon, and then on through the development process as we recruit progressively larger groups to test the application.
Opening up completely to criticism and congratulation strikes me as an incredibly empowering process; one which absolutely embraces the openness inherent in the Web 2.0 world. I’m really looking forward to engaging with everyone as we make progress.
