To me, this suggests that Basecamp/37signals are doing project management right and those of us that live by Gantt charts, functional specs, and long projects have got the whole thing ass-backwards.
Long live Basecamp. If you guys ever want another 37signaller, look me up!
I am using basecamp now for project I am doing with a vendor. The vendor is paying for basecamp.
I could not recommend it as a service to anyone. I have found it to be slow and unreliable.
I think because it is a service from 37signals, it gets lots of undeserved attention and hype from the media.
@David - I’d be interested in your experiences, as I’ve recently started using Basecamp and it both suits my way of working and seems more than adequate speed-wise and in terms of reliability.
I’m sure Jason at 37signals would be equally keen on your insight. In the couple of emails I’ve sent to them, he’s been more than responsive.
