Mash that API

Two of the defining features of Web 2.0 applications are the concepts of web applications having an API allowing users to access features and information from the application and repurpose them to their own ends, and (speaking of repurpose) the concept of mashups, where a new application leverages the APIs of two or more other applications to create a unique, third entity.

ProgrammableWeb provides a huge grid matrix. of APIed (is that a word) Web 2.0 applications where you can see just how much creativity is being released here (if only we could end hunger and poverty on the heat that must be being generated). You really should have a look at it if you’re working in this space.

ProgrammableWeb is also reporting on some fascinating science being conducted in this space. I can’t say that I get it entirely, but I’m trudging through.
