BFL 2006 - Start-up, Day 1 and 2

Last week, I got the inspiration to find myself a new gym, and found Elite Physique, a fairly new gym near to work and home. I also took a long, hard look at myself in the mirror and decided it was well past time to be taking better physical care of myself. I have no desire to be a 42-year-old heart attack and stroke victim like my Dad was.
When I faced this same issue in 2001 and did body-for-LIFE, I had great results, as you can see if you look at my body-for-LIFE page. It really is about time to do it again. So, from now to late August, I’m 100 per cent on the wagon. No bad food (except for allowed days). Strict exercise regime. And hopefully, great results!

Day 1 - 5 June 2006

At work all day, so I need to fit in a Upper Body weights session before I teach my Rhee Taekwondo class at 6:00PM. I got to work early so I could leave by 4:00PM.
At 4:00PM, I went across to Elite Physique and had Aidan do a quick assessment, with the following results:

Height 169cm
Weight 90.6kg
Skinfolds Bicep - 4.5mm
Tricep - 13.5mm
Subscapular - 20mm
Suprailiac - 18mm
Bodyfat % 29.5
Girths R Upper Arm (Relaxed) - 36.5cm
L Upper Arm (Relaxed) - 35.7cm
Shoulders - 128.3cm
Chest (Relaxed) - 111cm
Waist (Umbilicus) - 104.5cm
Hips - 109.7cm
R Thigh - 66cm
L Thigh - 63cm

I also took some start photos, which I’m not proud of, but which show how lazy I’ve become:

Before - Front Before - Back Before - Side

So now, I have a baseline to work with. Ideally, I’ll lose some scale weight (but the skinfolds and BF% are more important) and end up with a BF% somewhere between 9-15%. If I make it that far, I’ll be in a great position to do even better.
After the assessment, I did an Upper Body workout, leaving out Biceps and Triceps as I needed to get to my dojang for my class.

Day 2 - 6 June 2006

I knew this was coming! I have a URI infection of some sort and my head is full of yellow snot. I’m taking the day off work and making an effort to not get down about not being able to train. I barely feel able to get off the couch…
