I’ve been using AuctionSniper to bid for me at eBay now for 18 months or so, and it’s won me a heap of auctions. You get your first three auction wins for nothing, and then they start charging a modest (1% of winning price to a maximum of US$9.95) fee for their service, but only if you win the auction. A failed auction draws no fee and doesn’t cost you a free snipe if you’ve got freebies left.
